To help preserve its shape and finish:

Hardware care: Metal finishes naturally evolve with use and over time. Antique brass-tone hardware may gradually change in appearance, develop a patina or show signs of wear, particularly through friction or contact with moisture, perfume, cosmetics and other products. These natural changes are part of normal wear and are not in themselves a manufacturing defect.
